What is Pro/DESKTOP?

ProDESKTOP includes feature based solid modeling and kinematics motion which allows designs to be modeled and tested. ProDESKTOP works within a windows environment and can be linked to other software that enables it to be used for machining and for rapid prototyping.

Pro/Desktop in the classroom and at home:

It is a 3000 dollar program that is free to students who take Technology Education at Clarksville Middle School.
Students can keep the program for as long as they want.
It’s a program that allows students to streamline their designs before constructing a prototype.
It’s a powerful program that uses 3D design.

If you are having difficulty making the program run because it crashes when you do an “extrude”. Download and click on the file to run it.

To resolve this problem follow the following steps:

1. Check you have administrator rights to the computer.
2. Locate the desktop icon for Pro|DESKTOP.
3. Right click on the Pro|DESKTOP icon and select Properties.
4. In the Properties dialog window find the Compatibility settings.
5. From the list of operating systems select Windows 2000
6. Close the Properties dialog and run Pro|DESKTOP, create an extrusion to check operation.
7. Close Pro|DESKTOP
8. Edit the icon properties again resetting the operating system to Windows XP SP2.
