My lab was recently renovated this past summer and it now has a more modern, ergonomic, and brighter feel. The Tech Ed Lab is a diverse collection of tools that makes the average person wonder "What do they do in here?". In the lab you will find computers, an LCD projector, lumber, rulers, scissors, hot glue guns, power tools, printers, hand tools, and large table tops. It is a diverse collection of tools that brings about a very unique curriculum. Believe it or not, all of these tools are used in learning process of my class.
The New Lab Layout – Renovated Summer 2008
Here are some pictures of what the new lab looks like.
This is my main computer with triple output. I have objectives as PowerPoint and display videos, and do demonstrations from the front of the room.
The image is then transferred and shown onto my 2 LCD 32’ HDTVs. The resolutions is so crisp that students can read 12 point font from the screens. We are in a digital age so I choose to teach with new technologies.
Behind the instructional area is the computer lab. I have 30 Dell computers all networked and running the most modern CAD programs. These computers are also running a type of monitoring program that allows me to watch, control, and maintain computers from a remote computer. I have a brand new LCD projector and screen located in the front to do step by step lessons with students.
My fabrication lab has been completely renovated and updated with tons of storage cabinets. I decided to uniformly replace all of my tools with Ryobi to minimize the various amounts of new blades, drills, and sandpaper required to maintain them.
I also have a new digital Kel-Air Launcher connected to a 155 psi compressor. The tank is located in the back storage room.
